Recovery tips after Eyelid Surgery

Recovery tips after Eyelid Surgery

With your eyelid surgery over, you are eager to see the results and go back to looking young. In the office of Hooman Khorasani MD, we realize how difficult it is to wait for your eyelids to recover after surgery. To speed up your recovery, here are our top recommendations.

EYELID SURGERY Set aside time to rest and recuperate.

It is a good idea to take care of your most important obligations in advance to hasten your recovery. Clearing your calendar so that you can relax is essential, whether you need to fill the pantry with easy-to-cook dishes or ask a friend to take children to their activities.

Follow the self-care instructions.

Ask the staff at Hooman Khorasani, MD, ahead of time about what you will need for post-op care. If you have had EYELID SURGERY on your upper or lower lids, you will need to use eye drops, an ointment, and maybe cold compresses to minimize swelling and keep your eyes moist. As well as gauze, you will need to have some on hand at home. You may use sterile gauze to dab your wound if it leaks while it heals.

Focus on the goal at hand.

For the time being, you will not look your best. It is possible that the swelling and bruising will make you seem like you have a black eye, with swollen eyelids, red incisions, and other symptoms. Most of our patients find this difficult since they are eager to see results. Please do not allow the time it takes to heal to get to you. In approximately two weeks, the swollen area will be gone. You will notice the difference shortly after that, and boy, will it be noticeable. As a result, you will appear and feel younger and more confident.

Save yourself from the sun.

Sunlight and other factors, such as the wind, may do serious damage to your eyes if you do not use eye protection. Protect your eyes from the sides by wearing dark sunglasses with frames. Wear a hat for added protection. Also, be sure to wear sunscreen as directed by your surgeon after EYELID SURGERY.

Do not put too much strain on your eyes.

Do not read books or watch the whole season of your favorite TV program. Dry eyes are a common side effect of these activities. Therefore avoiding them can help your recovery go more quickly.

Get a good night’s rest.

Resting your body and your eyes are both parts of getting enough sleep. Because healing requires a great deal of energy, you will likely be exhausted. When you are feeling drowsy, take asleep. Not if you want to go back to your normal routine as fast as possible.

Skip the rigorous activities

Make sure to avoid eye-inducing activities during the first two to four weeks after eyelid surgery. This indicates that you should stay away from running, aerobics, sports, and other forms of strenuous physical activity. It is also important to be aware of actions like bending, carrying heavy objects, and laying down flat that might raise your head pressure and increase the amount of blood flowing into your eyes.

Recovery should be enjoyable.

Avoiding stress may also help your wound heal faster and better. While in recovery, you may achieve this by cutting out work (phone calls or emails) and organizing activities that are both uplifting and do not need using your eyes. It is a good idea to stock up on your favorite music or audiobooks so that you can relax your mind and body while you are doing so.

Quit using tobacco products.

Those who smoke should realize that their recovery process is negatively affected. It prolongs your recovery time since it slows down the healing process. You are more likely to have an infection after surgery if you smoke. If you quit smoking at least six weeks before your operation, you may prevent these complications. All of us at Hooman Khorasani, MD, are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have concerning your eyelids while you are recovering after surgery.
